What is Bhakti Yoga?

Bhakti translates as ‘devotion’. The practitioners of Bhakti Yoga aren’t usually found on a yoga mat, but rather on their knees, crying out the names of God or the Goddess. Bhakti Yoga mostly comes into practice as devotional singing. It’s prayer into motion and sound. Bhajans are the sacred songs that usually contain mantras as well as musical melodies that stir the soul. What really matters in Bhakti is connecting to the Heart. From this loving place song and dance are supporting the liberation process. Bhakti can be a celebration as well as the means for an emotional and spiritual liberation.

What happens in this retreat?

  • Singing!

  • Celebration

  • Ceremony

  • Silent Heart Meditation

  • Yin Yoga

  • Reverence to Shakti – the Goddess

Who is Shakti?

This retreat will take place during the Navaratri Festival that is celebrated throughout the whole of India. This is a festival for Durga, the Goddess, Shakti. Shakti translates as ‘energy’, but since ‘all’ is energy Shakti is the totality of expressions in the universe. She ‘is’ the Universe. Therefore, if we pray and sing for the Goddess, we are honouring and celebrating LIFE itself, in all Her diversity. She is life, love and resides in everyone and everything.

Let’s celebrate!
